Barclays has supported Webbs Motorcycles* in Peterborough with a loan of £750,000 to build a new motorcycle showroom on an exciting new business park.
The 10,000 sq. ft. purpose built showroom, situated in Kingston Park, which will be completed in early August, will sell new motorcycles through the company’s Yamaha and Triumph franchises. The showroom and service centre will employ 17 experienced staff and offer a range of clothing and accessories and used motorcycles.
Now a second generation family business, Webbs Motorcycles was established in August 1960 and set up shop shortly after in the Cathedral City of Lincoln. Webbs of Lincoln has retailed Yamaha motorcycles since 1975. The range was expanded in the early 90’s to stock the newly re-launched, British built, Triumph motorcycle brand. The company opened a twin business in High Street, Eye, Peterborough in 2003 on the site of a previous motorcycle retailer in leased premises.
Andre Waszczyszyn, Director of Webbs, said: “Barclays has been interested in the Webbs’ business since the early 1970’s and has seen us through some very tough times and encouraged and advised us through to the present day. There have been very few changes in terms of people who look after us at Barclays, which has meant that we have been able to develop a good understanding and trust, which I believe, is where Barclays stand out. Alastair, our Relationship Manager, has been looking after us for many years. The way we do business and keep each other informed of how things are going is ideal, should we need any changes in facilities. He is always available and we have a catch up every month at least and value the relationship highly.”
Alastair West, Relationship Director, Corporate Banking at Barclays, said: “It has been a long held strategic vision of the company to develop their own purpose built showroom in Peterborough. The funding we have provided has supported that vision and will enable the company to continue to grow the business.”
