Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT)

Parsys 2

We support customers, clients and colleagues across the broad spectrum of diversity of sexuality and gender identity.

At Barclays, we support customers, clients and colleagues across the broad spectrum of diversity of sexuality and gender identity. Within the workplace, we not only celebrate the diversity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community, but create an inclusive work environment where colleagues feel confident bringing their whole selves to work.

Barclays was ranked in a special group of eight companies that sit above Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers. Stonewall is the UK's leading advocacy organisation for the LGBT community. In the US, we achieved a score of 100% in the 2016 Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index for the seventh consecutive year.

Imagine being worried that people will judge you simply because of the person you love, or the gender you identify with. I can’t imagine not being able to come into the office and talk about what I did on the weekend. I can’t imagine not being accepted for being me. At Barclays, we aim to have a workplace where everyone feels confident about bringing their whole self to work and excels on their merit.’
Michael Roemer, Group Chief Compliance Officer and Executive Sponsor of the LGBT agenda
  • Our Allies support the LGBT community in challenging homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, and by educating others on the importance of equality. By staying informed and vocally supporting equality, allies help to make their LGBT colleagues, friends and family feel safer and more comfortable in leading their lives.

  • Barclays has sponsored Pride in London since 2014. We were the first UK bank to feature a same-sex couple in our advertising, turning a number of our cash machines along London’s Pride route into ‘GAYTMs’ (gay ATMS) and introducing ‘Ping for Pride’, allowing anyone with a bank account to donate to Pride in London via the Pingit payment app.

Open for Business: Barclays is proud to be a partner of Open For Business, a coalition of global companies making the case that inclusive, diverse societies are better for business and better for economic growth.

Barclays is the proud host of the OutNext conference for the second year. In 2016, the Summit convened nearly 200 emerging LGBT+ leaders (from more than 10 countries) selected by Out Leadership member companies to participate in two days of leadership development programming.
