We are focused on engaging women and men across the organisation to attract, develop and retain women at all levels.

The gender agenda focuses on engaging women and men across the organisation to attract, develop and retain women at all levels. Research has shown that leadership teams with greater diversity, particularly gender diversity, develop better solutions and foster a more open, collaborative environment. Barclays is committed to making this a reality across the organisation.

Programmes such as International Women's Day, the Barclays Global Women in Leadership Forum, sponsorship and mentoring initiatives, enable us to support the considerable achievements of the talented women across our business.

I am inspired everyday by everyone at Barclays who enables positive change and inspires action on gender diversity. This is reflected in the external recognition we have recently received. For the second consecutive year, Barclays was one of 52 global organisations included in the Bloomberg Financial Services Gender-Equality Index, reflecting best-in-class statistics and policies. We were also recently named on The Times Top 50 Employers for Women for the seventh consecutive year

  • HeForShe is a United Nations' global campaign to engage one billion men in the advancement of women’s rights. Barclays, in partnership, is calling on all colleagues to become active participants in the HeForShe campaign.

Gender equality is not only a women’s issue, it is a human rights issue that affects us all – socially, politically and economically. It liberates not only women but also men from gender stereotypes and prescribed social roles. This campaign seeks to engage men as advocates and agents of change for the achievement of gender equality and women’s rights, as well as encouraging them to speak out and take action against inequalities faced by women.

  • International Women’s Day (IWD) acknowledges the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women while advocating and pushing for gender parity.

Barclays has been a long-time supporter of IWD and continues to raise awareness of gender issues, not only within the organisation but across the industry, as well as implementing steps across its business to address challenges and support its female population.
