What information do we collect from you?
Barclays collects personal data from you including your name, address, email address and we may collect information about your interests. We will collect and process your data where we have a legitimate interest to do so.
How do we use your information?
Barclays and their authorised third parties use the information in order to;
- Process your registration onto our candidate data management tool (Avature)
- Provide information to you about news, events, promotional activities and career opportunities that that may be of interest to you
- Conduct Surveys and Polls that help improve the service offered to you
- Collate and analyse usage data (such as platform traffic, content views) in order to understand how the site is operating and to improve the service offered to you
Any information that you provide is entirely at your discretion and within your control. Barclays ask that you do not provide any sensitive information such as religious beliefs, health data, sexual orientation or political views
Who might we share the information with?
If you have requested to hear about relevant job opportunities, Barclays may share your personal data with Barclays colleagues who administer the site, manage the recruitment process and third party providers.
Where is the information held?
The global nature of our business means that your information may be shared within the Barclays Group and with other companies providing services to us. In some cases, the recipients may be in your country of residence or in another country where Barclays or its service providers operate, where such transfers do occur, Barclays ensures that the necessary steps are taken to safeguard the security and integrity of your information a and ensures it is processed to a standard commensurate with the requirements within the EU.
How long do we keep your personal information for?
We will keep your personal information as outlined in the Terms and Conditions which is for a period of 12 months after which Barclays will send you an email with the option to remove your information.
If you are a member of the Barclays Global Alumni Programme, we will keep your membership information for as long as you remain a member.
If you wish to unsubscribe, you may do so at any time by selecting the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the initial confirmation email. We will not send you any further emails.
How do we protect the personal data you provide us?

When Personal information is handled by other companies providing a service to us, Barclays will ensure that they agree to apply equivalent levels of protection and that the sharing of that information is lawful.
What rights do you have in relation to the information we hold?
Barclays will not sell or pass on your information to third parties for marketing purposes.
Barclays use of your personal data is subject to an extensive framework of safeguards that help make sure that your rights are protected. These include the information given to you about how your personal data will be used and how you can exercise your rights to obtain your personal data, have it corrected, restricted or deleted, object to it being processed, to obtain and reuse your personal data and complain if you are dissatisfied. These are further explained below:
You have the right to access to your personal data, which means that you can ask us whether we are processing your personal data, what personal data we are processing, where we are processing it (including what safeguards are in place and the extent to where we are transferring your personal data outside the EEA), who has received it, our purpose for processing it and for how long your personal data will be retained. You can also request an electronic copy of your personal data free of charge.
If any information about you is incomplete or inaccurate, you may also request the rectification of your data.
You also have the right to have your data erased and removed where there is no longer a compelling reason for Barclays to continue processing your data in certain circumstances. For example:
where your personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purpose for which it was originally collected/processed;
- where you withdraw consent for Barclays to continue processing your data;
- if you object to the processing and there is no overriding legitimate interest for Barclays to continue the processing;
- where the personal data has been unlawfully processed;
- where your personal data has to be erased in order to comply with a legal obligation.
It is worth noting that, we may not be able to delete your personal data if we have a compelling reason to continue with processing it.
You have the right to request Barclays to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances. For example:
- where you contest the accuracy of your personal data;
- where you object to the processing because it is unlawful and you prefer restriction instead of erasure of your personal data;
- where you have objected to our processing of your personal data.
Barclays will confirm the outcome of your request or actions that have been taken in relation to your request.
We will inform recipients of your personal data of the requirement to erase, restrict or rectify your personal data.
You have the right to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes across different services. Your right to data portability only applies to personal data that you have supplied to Barclays, where the processing is based on your consent or for the performance of a contract with you and where we are processing the personal data by automated means. We will provide your data in a commonly used electronic format.
You have the right to object to us processing your personal data (including profiling) where our processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or carried out for our legitimate business interests. Upon receiving your request, we will cease processing your personal data (unless we have compelling legitimate grounds for such processing).
You also have the right to object to processing which results in a decision based solely on automated decision-making (including profiling), which significantly affects you. This right shall not apply in circumstances where the processing is necessary for the performance of your employment contract, is authorised by applicable law or is based on your explicit consent.
