As part of the Building young futures partnership, resource centres across Zambia will receive funding and support to provide vulnerable children with access to education.

“Through this joint effort with UNICEF, we aim to keep young people in education, build their social skills to secure work and help them develop entrepreneurial talents through mentoring, microfinance and financial training,” said Barclays Zambia Managing Director Zafar Masaud at the launch. “Although young people are an extremely vulnerable group, they also possess great potential.”

Zambia’s Acting Science and Technology Minster Ronald Mukuma was also supportive of the initiative, saying that the project reflected an important shift in corporate philanthropy, from pure donations to combining social investment with long-term business opportunities.
