Barclays UK Retail Banking (UKRB) has announced today that it will become the Official Retail Bank of The O2, London, considered as one of the world's most popular music venues, from 2 January, 2011.
The arena's parent company AEG has also appointed Barclays Corporate as its Lead UK Bank.
More than 7.5 million people visit The O2 every year, providing Barclays with a platform to showcase its brand under the three-year sponsorship agreement.
Through the sponsorship, Barclays will:
- Have access to one-twelfth of all digital and static on-site advertising at The O2
- Become the sole supplier of ATMs at the venue
- Install contactless-only food and beverage lanes
- Launch dedicated lounge facilities for UKRB's mass affluent Premier customers.
The sponsorship aims at improving brand awareness and consideration while recognising and rewarding Barclays customers.
Deanna Oppenheimer, Chief Executive, UK Retail Banking and Vice-Chair, Global Retail Banking, said: "The O2 is one of the premier indoor venues in the world and attracts world-class music, sport and the arts.
"We see this as an innovative way to promote our brand in a city where we have our global headquarters and will benefit our customers and colleagues."
