Absa, majority-owned by Barclays, has sponsored a healthcare workshop in partnership with the South African government.
Guests at the event investigated ways to improve healthcare in the country by developing sustainable partnerships between private healthcare providers and the government.
They also discussed the importance of infrastructure planning in healthcare provision.
Shiva Makotoko, Head of Absa Public Sector Banking, said: "Absa's involvement demonstrates our commitment to leverage partnership and collaborate with the public sector to address the challenges that the government is facing in the healthcare system.
"As the government turns to the private sector to help upgrade public health infrastructure and facilities, Absa will continue to contribute as a key stakeholder in the public sector for a better South African healthcare system for future generations."
Steve Wright, Executive Director of the European Centre for Health Assets and Architecture, discussed research findings from a European study on healthcare partnerships.
