Barclays Corporate has been named Best Lender at the 2010 EducationInvestor Awards.
The event, organised in London by UK business magazine EducationInvestor, promotes excellence and recognises innovation in the education sector.
The winners were determined by a judging panel which included Susan Anderson, Director of Public Services, Confederation of British Industries; Councillor Shireen Ritchie, Local Government Association; and Sir Bruce Liddington, Director General of educational charity E-ACT and former Schools Commissioner for England.
Chris Hearn, Head of Education, Public Sector team at Barclays Corporate, said: "We are delighted to have won this award.
"It is recognition of the fact that we are rightly regarded as the premier bank in the sector with a strong track record of supporting universities, colleges and schools over a sustained period."
Nationwide was commended in the Best Lender category, with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, NIBC and Nord Bank being nominated.
