The Barclays Singapore Open, the most prestigious golf tournament in the region, starts today at the Sentosa Golf Club.
For the second year running, the four-day tournament will be joint-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and The European Tour, and for the first time, a field of over 200 players will compete on both The Serapong and The Tanjong courses to accommodate the largest field ever.
A strong line-up of star players includes Barclays-sponsored golfer, 2010 Masters champion and world number four player, Phil Mickelson; Padraig Harrington, three-time 'major' champion from Ireland; Asia's first 'major' winner, Yang Yong-eun of Korea; and Australia's Adam Scott, all competing against defending champion Ian Poulter (pictured).
This is the fourth year Barclays is sponsoring the event, which will be broadcast on the Golf Channel, and on ESPN Star Sports in Singapore.
Golf is a significant part of Barclays sponsorship portfolio. It provides a perfect opportunity for the firm to build stronger relationships with its clients, increase its brand awareness and align itself with a game that has global appeal, strong ethics and which exemplifies quality, confidence and focus.
