The Barclays UK Retirement Fund has been named Best Pension Fund in the UK at the 2010 European Pension Fund Awards, hosted last week by Investment & Pensions Europe (IPE) magazine.
The fund was also named runner-up in the award for Best Pension Fund in Europe.
It was recognised for its approach in managing assets, its innovative investment strategies for the Barclays pension schemes, and its use of personalised communication to pension fund members.
Mark Hyde Harrison, Chief Executive, Barclays UK Retirement Fund, said: “We are delighted that the Barclays pension schemes in which many colleagues save for retirement are receiving this level of external recognition.”
Piers Diacre, publisher and Chief Executive Officer of IPE magazine, said: “We thank Barclays for entering the awards and offer them our warmest congratulation on their outstanding achievement.”
Around 600 guests from more than 30 countries attended the event, organised by IPE magazine to recognise excellence in pensions funds from across Europe. A total of 39 awards were presented.
