Barclaycard, in partnership with UK radio station Choice FM, launches Music Potential.
The initiative provides disadvantaged young people, who are not in employment, education or training, with insight into work in the music and radio industries.
Barclaycard has invested £100,000 in the programme to benefit more than 900 participants, who will attend workshops on music production, mixing, vocal skills and film.
Some of them will also complete an accredited course in music production and a two-week internship at UK radio station Global Radio.
Music Potential complements Barclaycard Unwind, a programme providing customers with rewards such as access to festivals, concerts and music downloads.
Louise Guedes, Community Manager at Barclaycard, said: “As part of our work with local communities, we are working with the most disadvantaged groups to help them access employment and develop and secure financial future for themselves.
“Using our passion for music and communities, Barclaycard Unwind provides an exclusive world of music and we are keen to extend this to help the next generation discover their potential with behind-the-scenes training in the music industry.”
Dalton Leong, Managing Director of Global Radio Charities & Communities, concluded: “We are delighted to be supporting Barclaycard Unwind’s Music Potential.
“Global Radio sincerely believes in helping young people to unleash their potential, gain skills and confidence and, in some cases, to enhance their chances for education and training.
“We’re passionate about this campaign and proud that Choice FM is able to lend its full support to the project.”
Music Potential is a part of Choice FM’s I Have a Choice community investment programme.
It is also part of Banking on Brighter Futures, Barclays flagship community investment programme, which draws on Barclays expertise and skills to help disadvantaged people achieve financial independence and security.
Banking on Brighter Futures focuses on enterprise, helping people into employment, financial capability and financial inclusion.
