Barclays Wealth has won in the Friends of the Arts category at the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Dubai Patrons of the Arts Awards.
The accolade recognises Barclays Wealth’s sponsorship of the 2010 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, the Middle East’s largest annual literary event, celebrating the work of 80 of the world’s leading writers.
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai and the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, presented the award to Soha Nashaat, Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Wealth, Middle East and North Africa, at a ceremony earlier this month.
The event at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray hotel was attended by members of the Dubai Royal Family, dignitaries from various government bodies, as well as other award winners.
Soha Nashaat said: “We are honoured to sponsor this festival as we support the spread of literacy across the Arab world, foster and promote local Arab writing talent, encourage the love of reading from the earliest possible age and engage audiences in multi and cross-cultural debates.
“This recognition is a clear statement for the efforts of Barclays Wealth in Dubai and the region, in support of local cultures and communities.”
