Last week UK Retail and Business Banking (UK RBB) celebrated the launch of a new state-of-the-art flagship branch in Cardiff, Wales.
The branch, which was opened by Wales national football team manager Gary Speed and local MP Jenny Willott, is the 800th to be launched as part of its refurbishment initiative. The Branch Network Development programme is now at the halfway point and is due to finish in two years time.
Gary Speed, who spent the day signing autographs, said: “The branch looks great, it is the best bank I’ve been into.”
Situated in a new location, the Cardiff branch is designed in a modern, light and open way, with new cash and cheque deposit machines, digital screens and a Premier lounge on the first floor.
Commenting on the new facility, Geraint Jones, Branch Manager, said: “A wonderful day for Barclays in Cardiff – if anyone doubted we were serious about the branch network, this will prove it beyond all doubt.”
As with all of UK RBB branch refurbishment launches, donations were taken on the day to support a local charity – the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth. A total of £425 was raised which will be spent on providing specialist care for people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
