Barclays sponsored degree scheme for UK school leavers opens for applications today.
The Retail Development Programme offers school leavers an opportunity to gain work experience in Barclays UK Retail and Business Banking division, while studying for a relevant degree.
Candidates spend up to three years in a range of roles with Barclays branches, and have access to senior mentors and colleagues who have graduated from the programme.
Alongside their work responsibilities, they can also study for a business degree at one of two partner universities, with their course fees funded by Barclays.
Johannah Lynch, Barclays Leadership Development Specialist, said: “Talent and leadership development is at the forefront of our learning agenda and the sponsored degree programme has already demonstrated its success in creating a pipeline of talented leaders in our branch network.
“Barclays was the first bank to launch a bespoke degree course within a three-year work placement scheme when the Retail Development Programme launched in 2006. Several banks have since followed suit.”
This year’s intake of 35 candidates joined Barclays on 12 September.
