Barclays launches a series of seminars across the UK next week to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Boosting Business Seminars (new window) are aimed at helping growing companies break new ground and develop new opportunities.

The events will use real-life case studies to help participants learn more about topics such as attracting new customers, mobile commerce and foreign trade.

Speakers include Andrew Gerrie, CEO, Lush Cosmetics; Will Whitehorn, Chairman of brand and communications consultancy Loewy and former President of Virgin Galactic; and Steve Cooper, Managing Director, Barclays Business and Personal Banking Solutions.

Mark Prisk, UK Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, said: “Small businesses are vital to economic growth and the government is determined to do all it can to support them. We cannot however, achieve this on our own which is I why I welcome the excellent endeavours being made by Barclays through its Boosting Business seminar series to help Britain’s businesses break new ground, develop and grow.”

Flagship seminars take place in Peterborough next Monday, 7 November and in London next Wednesday, 9 November.

Satellite seminars, which will broadcast live footage from the flagship events, are being organised in seven other locations around the country.

The events are free and aimed primarily at established SMEs – with a turnover up to £5m – that want to grow their business.

Those who are not Barclays customers are also invited to attend.
