This is the sixth consecutive year Barclays has featured in the newspaper's rankings, which recognises organisations that are leading the way in gender equality in the workplace.
The Times' Top 50 Employers for Women list is considered a trusted and reliable reference guide for women wishing to choose the right employer, resulting in fierce competition between businesses to secure a place on the list.
It is published in partnership with Opportunity Now, a campaign of UK charity Business in the Community that aims to accelerate change for women in the workplace.
Mark McLane, Managing Director, Head of Global Diversity and Inclusion, Barclays, said: "I am proud that Barclays continues to be recognised as an employer of choice for women by The Times' and Opportunity Now. This fantastic recognition acknowledges the great strides that we have taken to build an inclusive work place."
Helen Wells, Director of Opportunity Now, an organisation which compiled the rankings in conjunction with The Times, added: “Any organisation included in The Times' Top 50 Employers for Women list has to be commended for its commitment to actively recruiting, retaining and progressing female talent.
"Being included in The Times' Top 50 Employers for Women list demonstrates a focus on creating an inclusive and diverse workplace that utilises the skills and talent of men and women. It is a clear statement that senior leaders see this as a commercial imperative, not a women’s issue."
Barclays supports a wide range of internal and external initiatives across the business to highlight the importance of gender diversity. These include:
- Women's Initiative Networks (WiN) for employees across Barclays
- Barclays sponsorship of the annual Women of the Year Lecture in March and Lunch in October
- Barclays own internal Women of the Year Awards
- Barclays sponsorship of the Women on Boards: 6 month Monitoring Report, published by the UK’s Cranfield School of Management
- The celebration of International Women’s Day every year in March.
