Tim joined Legal & General in 1987 and held a number of roles before becoming Group Chief Executive in January 2006. He stepped down from this position on 30 June 2012.
Legal & General is one of the UK’s leading financial services companies, providing insurance, savings and investment management products to over seven million customers.
Tim has had a distinguished career, serving as Chairman of the Association of British Insurers between July 2010 and July 2012. He chaired the UK government’s non-bank, industry-led lending taskforce, which looked at the structural and behavioural barriers to the development of alternative debt markets in the UK. The taskforce reported its conclusions and recommendations in March 2012.
Tim’s former directorships include the Investment Management Association and the Financial Reporting Council.
Welcoming Tim to the Board, Barclays Chairman-designate Sir David Walker said: “I am delighted that Barclays has secured the services of Tim Breedon as a Non-executive Director. He brings extensive knowledge and experience of financial services, regulation and customer focus to the Barclays Boards.”
