Throughout the season Barclays has been running the Thank you campaign to thank fans, community heroes and players who make the Barclays Premier League what it is. The campaign has been seen around the world by millions through TV adverts featuring real life fans such as 86 year old Billy Ingham from Everton.
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany was presented with the trophy by Paul Kelly, who delivers the Manchester City Disability Sports Programme to young people across Manchester. This was the first time that the trophy presentation has been made by a fan or community hero.
David Wheldon, Managing Director of Brand, Reputation, Citizenship & Marketing at Barclays, said: “Football belongs to the fans and those in the community who support it week in week out. We are delighted that through the sponsorship of the Barclays Premier League we have been able to thank so many people for the contribution they make this season.”
