Barclays believes there is no better start on the path to success than access to enterprise, employability and financial skills. That’s why, through our 5 Million Young Futures commitment, Barclays is once again the principal sponsor of Global Entrepreneurship Week in the UK.

Global Entrepreneurship Week

Barclays is once again the principal sponsor of Global Entrepreneurship Week in the UK.

Entrepreneurship is a vital component of a successful economy. By helping businesses to start up and grow, we can contribute to long term economic prosperity. Global Entrepreneurship Week, which will run from 17 to 23 November, is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship. It will be launched on Monday, 17 November from the London Escalator – an entrepreneurial workspace co-sponsored by Barclays and Central Working.

Reflecting on his experience interacting with young entrepreneurs at last month’s One Young World Conference in Dublin, Barclays Group Chief Executive Antony Jenkins commented: “Barclays is uniquely placed to nurture the development of start-ups and businesses, not only through financing and product propositions, but crucially through the knowledge and thought leadership for which we are already becoming recognised.”

Throughout November Barclays will deliver almost 100 clinics offering practical guidance for entrepreneurs across the UK.  The clinics are open to everyone and can be booked online via the:

To coincide with the month-long focus on entrepreneurship, Barclays is launching a new dedicated entrepreneurship web hub. hosts research, videos, case studies and news relating to entrepreneurship. It also provides links to practical advice and support for entrepreneurs, including to Connector, a bespoke networking tool designed to help entrepreneurs connect with potential customers, suppliers, partners and advisors.

Matt Macri-Waller is the founder of Benefex, one of the most successful reward and benefit providers in the UK. He says he is pleased to see a shift in perception when it comes to entrepreneurship:

“There’s been a massive shift in the start-up culture…there’s an acceptance that starting a business is a clear career choice…You don’t have to go into an industry for twenty years before starting a business.”
